This is his first studio album for Blue Note label and the 16th release as a leader overall. This is also his first album to feature vocals (from rising star Gabrielle Cavassa).

The Grammy nominated album consists of cover versions of songs written by American musician singer-songwriter Randall Bramblett, whom LaVette called "the best writer that I have heard in the last 30 years.” Hal Horowitz of American Songwriter felt that LaVette "takes these obscure selections, and like her one-time contemporary, Aretha Franklin, makes them her own" as she "takes Bramblett's often oblique, sometimes stream of consciousness, always carefully crafted lyrics and filters them through her soul-drenched pipes." Bettye LaVette is a native Detroiter.

Multiple Grammy nominee Ruthie Foster takes the listener to church with her new LP, Healing Time, her first studio album since 2017. The soulful, liberating album takes the listener on a journey of joy, her gospel roots present on all the tracks. All songs were co-written by Foster except “Love is the Answer” and “Feels Like Freedom.” Ruthie Foster won the Blues Music Award for best vocalist and ‘What Kind of Fool’ was awarded Song of the Year at the BMAs.

Barbara McQuade is a professor at the University of Michigan Law School, her alma mater, where she teaches courses in criminal law, criminal procedure, national security, and data privacy. She is also a legal analyst for NBC News and MSNBC, and a co-host of the podcast #SistersInLaw. From 2010 to 2017, McQuade served as U.S Attorney for the Eastern District of Michigan. Ms. McQuade was appointed by President Barack Obama, and was the first woman to serve in her position. She has been on-air with WEMU many times and is a listener and donor.
