For Ode’s next live storytelling event, we tip our hat to the trailblazers, the change-makers, the underdogs.

We’re partnering with One Book One Siouxland for Ode’s next live storytelling event this Friday, April 6. The theme is “Just Keep Going,” inspired by this year’s book selection “Hidden Figures: The American Dream and the Untold Story of the Black Women Mathematicians Who Helped Win the Space Race.”

One of those women was Dorothy Vaughan who looked back at that time in her life and said, “I changed what I could, and what I couldn’t, I endured.”

We’ll hear from community leaders and influencers about how they have endured, persevered or persisted. The show will open with a special hour-long performance by Edem Soul Music, as part of Siouxland Arts Live, starting at 6 p.m. at The Marquee, 1225 Fourth Street (formerly The Chesterfield). Storytelling will begin at 7 p.m.

Ode is a storytelling series where community members tell true stories on stage to promote positive impact through empathy. It's produced by Siouxland Public Media. For more information, visit facebook.com/odestorytelling. Listen to stories from past events at kwit.org/programs/ode.

Tickets $15 at the door.
