As the country’s first rural public radio station, KAXE has been “people-powered” for nearly 50 years.
For the remainder of the year, you have an incredible opportunity to kick start the next 50 and support local journalism.
KAXE has been chosen to participate in NewsMatch 2025, a national campaign supporting independent nonprofit newsrooms. Thanks to a generous amount of matches provided by the Rural Partners Fund, the MacArthur Foundation as well as our local Community Match, we have over $35,000 to match any donations coming in until the end of the year.
This means, your donation will be matched 3-to-1 up to $1,000!
That also means, with your support, KAXE has an opportunity to receive a total of over $70,000 to close out what has been a trying year in public radio.
We're counting on you to power us ahead into 2026 as we celebrate our 50th year on-air.
Donations raised will support KAXE’s growing local newsroom and coverage of key regional issues, including local government cuts to libraries, school referendums and local elections. Funds will also support the Up North Report, the station’s 5-minute daily newscast.
